HAPPINESS

TO GO

Your kindness.

So nuanced and warm.

The way you speak,

while looking at me,

and then,

the way you look away.

I have to say,

that, truthfully,

you have jump-started my whole day

into the bright daylight of vivid shades and colours.

You helped me to uncover:

the violet of lilacs

along the gravel road,

the gentle green of trees,

their still unfolding leaves,

the purple petals on the bare concrete,

that left me standing, gazing at the sky

through tangled nets of branches,

the precious laughter of the passerby.

And then,

a thought,

“I wonder

HOW

it is you do it.”

as every single day

you’re here serving:

the new

and the familiar faces

with happiness to go:

one coffee at a time,

accompanied

with sweet

and unpretentious smile.
