HUMBLE OVERACHIEVER
How can it be,
that generosity
is so often a sign of demands to come?
Yet,
you risked your life for me
the other day.
It was simple,
it was natural to you.
As natural as the air you breathed.
I saw it clearly —
the necessity
not requiring consideration.
And you denied and smiled,
and you laughed at it after,
like a hero would,
Oh! My humble overachiever.
